Emergency Medicine resident responsibilities are graded throughout their training. The intern is the primary care giver for individual cases under the direct supervision of a senior resident and a faculty in EM. The intern’s education is largely an introduction to emergency patient care with an emphasis on signs and symptoms, the performance of an appropriate history and physical, principles of resuscitation, wound management and ethical issues in emergency care.

  • Emergency Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center = 5.5 months
  • Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center = 1 month
  • Emergency Medicine at Harlem Hospital Center = 1 month
  • Anesthesia at Harlem Hospital Center = 1 week
  • Ultrasound at Metropolitan Hospital Center = 1 week
  • Internal Medicine at Westchester Medical Center = 1 month
  • CCU at Westchester Medical Center = 1 month
  • MICU at Westchester Medical Center = 1 month
  • Vacation = 1 month (full month or two weeks at a time)
